Heritage School of Music
The Don Jamison Heritage School of Music offers free weekend music classes for more than 80 youth a week. With space in the Jazz & Heritage Center, the school will open to almost 200 students for weekend AND evening classes. The joy of learning to play an instrument -- from the first notes to performing with an ensemble -- should be available to all young people. Unfortunately, many of our schools do not have the resources to offer comprehensive music education programs, which is why the Heritage School was started in 1990 and why the need for growth is so urgent today. You can help the school grow and reach more of Louisiana's youth by contributing to our programming fund.
To see what's possible through the Heritage School, look no further than rising star Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews. Here he is, describing what the Heritage School meant to him as a young musician.
